Is My Garden Shed Watertight?

We get this question a lot and the answer might surprise you!

The short answer is: YES, a properly assembled Easyshed is designed to be watertight.

The long answer? We’ll dig into.

Watch our video or read on to find out if your Easyshed is watertight!

Assembly Matters More Than You Think

A shed kit is only as good as its build. Easyshed designs every panel and joint to overlap in a way that sheds water off the structure, rather than letting it in. You want to avoid gaps along the roof ridge or side sheeting during assembly.

When putting the panels together, take your time and double-check that they sit flush, especially on Gable Roof sheds where the ridge is most exposed. Spending extra time on assembly will go a long way.

Use the Right Screws

Your kit includes roofing screws with neoprene seals. These aren’t just extras, they’re critical. Applied correctly, those seals compress and create a watertight barrier around each screw hole on the roof of the shed

Don’t mix them up with standard screws for the rest of your shed.

Roof Style Plays a Big Role

Not all roofs handle rain the same way. Water rolls off better on a Gable Roof with its slopes than a Flat Roof.

Before you order, think about where you’re placing your shed. If it’s exposed to the elements, a Gable Roof will be better at handling downpours.

If it’s going under a narrow and sheltered space, a Flat Roof would work just as well and complete your set-up.

Watertight Not Waterproof

Steel sheds are tough. Believe it or not, we’ve got customers that have sheds standing since the 80s.

Condensation is a natural occurrence with steel sheds. To help reduce it, consider adding insulation and proper ventilation.

Proper ventilation and insulation also help reduce the risk of condensation build up.

And don’t forget, a little old-fashioned TLC.

Give it a good wash after assembly to get rid of swarf. They’re those small metal shavings that come off as you drill and screw parts together. If you see any rust spots forming, rub it off with soapy water and rinse well

The Bottom Line: Yes - It Is

Easyshed products are designed for the Aussie weather, but the real key is you!

Put it together properly, choose the most suitable roof option, and check it once or twice a year. Simple and easy steps towards secure watertight storage and peace of mind.

Just another way we make life easy.
