An Easyshed flatpack kit takes approximately 2–4 hours to build for small and compact sheds, 3–4 hours for medium storage sheds, and 3–5 hours for large garage and workshop models. Build time varies depending on shed size, number of people, experience level, and site preparation.
Here’s a closer look at what to expect across each shed category and what can speed things up or slow you down.
How Long Does It Take to Build an Easyshed?
There’s no one-size-fits-all answer, but here’s what we’ve gathered from 43 years of experience, research, and feedback from our customers.
Small & Compact Sheds
⏰ Estimated build time: 2–4 hours
Small sheds are the quickest to assemble. This range includes our Pet Houses, Pool Pump Shed, Bike Shed, and Bin Shed.
Medium Storage Sheds
⏰ Estimated build time: 3–4 hours
Most people with DIY experience can erect a shed this size in 3–4 hours, sometimes less. If you’re new to DIY, it’s best to expect a full day’s work or a solid weekend project. Our best-selling 3m x 3m Gable Roof Shed is a prime sample of a medium storage shed.
Large Garage Sheds & Workshops
⏰ Estimated build time: 3–5 hours
Larger sheds like our Garage and Workshop models aren’t hard to build; they’re just more involved. You’ll be dealing with more panels and the addition of a Portal Frame Kit for structural support.
Depending on your experience and how many hands you have on deck, this could take anywhere from a few hours to a full-on weekend project. But hey, no better time to round up your buddies and celebrate with a backyard BBQ, or knock back a few beers in your new shed after!
Factors that Affect Build Time
Here’s what speeds things up, or slows them down:
- Shed base preparation
- Number of people
- Experience level
- Weather conditions
- The right tools
- How organised you are going in
DIY Reality Check
Easyshed garden sheds are designed for DIY, but that doesn’t mean “no effort required”.
Think of it less like pre-built packs from IKEA and more like a structured building. You need the right tools for the job. If you’re new to the DIY space and would like an idea about which tools are required, check out our Build Your Garden Shed with These Tools blog.
It’s all listed in every assembly manual included in Easyshed DIY flatpack kits too.
With tools in hand, remember to breathe, take your time, follow the steps, and don’t rush things.
Make the DIY Experience Easier
Simple prep work can make a world of difference. Here are a few short tips that will help make your DIY experience smoother:
- Lay everything out before you start
- Label & measure parts as you unpack
- Have at least 2–3 people for medium or larger kits
- Read the full manual at least once before assembly
- Don’t. Skip. Steps.
